A range of engaging activities, workshops and tours.

As Scotland’s National Centre for Children’s Literature and Storytelling, Moat Brae engages with schools to encourage literacy, foster a lifelong love of reading and celebrate young people’s creativity.

We can offer a range of engaging activities, workshops and tours linked to Curriculum for Excellence with a focus on storytelling and imagination. We can also work closely with teachers to offer bespoke packages, to ensure that all pupils are able to get the most from their visit. Our aim is for pupils (and adults) to leave inspired to discover more stories and to create their own.

Feedback from previous school visits:

“Moat Brae really is an inspiring place and you two were really inspiring too – thank you. It was very obvious that you are both skilled teachers at planning and delivering rich learning experiences.”

“The children remained engaged and have been full of it since they got back. It was amazing how quickly they became unselfconscious, which in today’s world is great and shows how enchanting Moat Brae is.”

“The class absolutely loved their trip. I have had comments from parents too saying their children loved it and they are keen to visit again as a family in the holidays. It was all well organised and everything ran smoothly. Your tour was really informative and it was all pitched at their level.”
